Today I present an extraordinary rock climber:

Alex Honnold - Alone on the Wall.

With only 27 years, Alex Honnold is already one of the most accomplished free solo big wall climbers ever. Alex started his climbing career in the tender age of 11. He's living his dream out of a van which allows him to be flexible and follow the weather - and of course - climb as much as possible.

His list of remarkable climbs is growing longer and longer. Here are just a few examples of Alex Honnold's fantastic accomplishments as rock climber:

  • The USA's first 5.13a Free Solo of The Phoenix
  • The Triple Crown - a (90%) free solo climb of Mount Watkins, El Capitan and Half Dome in less than 19 hours.
  • The Free Solo of Half Dome in May this year (2012) in only 82 minutes.
CBS journalist Lara Logan interviewed Alex Honnold in program '60 Minutes' in October of last year.
